My best friend of over 10-yrs and my inspiration to make both a change and a blog! 😉

Hey there world- My name’s Lauren and I’ve decided to share my little secrets on how I’ve come to find ways to literally make something great out of what some might see as nothing as I document my exciting and at times I’ll admit chaotic adventure (moving nearly 2,000 miles away from home).

To catch you up to speed: I graduated from college this past May jumping into the dreaded unemployment ABYSS with most of my other fellow graduates.  I took the first and only job that was offered to me, but knew in my heart I was compromising what I  wanted out of my post-college “freedom.”  My fiance had been laid just off a few months prior to my graduation and it was really just time for a change.

So, we did the unthinkable…..sold most of our things, packed up the pets, and drove half way across the country.  Most securities we feel in life are not ours to keep- with that in mind, I knew the risk couldn’t even compare to the size of the reward if I were to commit myself to true happiness.

Linus: The Cross-Country Super Trooper!

I’d be lying to you if I told you that I’ve never looked back or felt the slightest bit of fear throughout this whole process, but sometimes it feels like a choice to look forward.  Knowing that aside from how others might view your situation, that you’re always in control of how it appears to you.

So many of my friends have been completely supportive of this little adventure.  Aside from sharing this experience with them (and anyone else for that matter) with this blog, I want to prove that anyone can do it.  Now, I’m not saying that everyone should just hop in their cars and drive to Texas.  Change is significant no matter the size and has the power to impact your life in ways you never dreamed possible.  Do what’s right for you

Sometimes a change in your mind set can make all the difference….if you’re thinking there’s nothing in front of you….that’s all you’ll ever see!

UPDATE: Since December, Jay has been promoted FOUR times (part-time to full-time, full-time to assistant manager, assistant manager + head of social media/marketing, and now this!)  including his store manager offer which has since landed us in Boulder, Colorado.  I guess our cross country move has been extended a few miles… But, Jay’s experience has done a great job proving my point.  Sometimes great things happen when you take a chance! He looked lay offs and unemployment in the face and said, “No, that’s not good enough …what else you got, Universe!” His story is a true “somethin outta nothin” success story and I hope it is as big of an inspiration to you as it is to me!

Lauren, you are so inspiring! I have never followed a blog before, but your’s might be my first! I wish you nothing but the best in your new start.
I have a quote on my facebook profile you might like. “If the world seems cold to you, kindle fires to warm it.” Also, every time I turn my phone on it says “make your own sunshine”

Lauren, as long as you are happy with your life, your friends and you have love in your heart, you need nothing else.
